The Commissioning of USS Little Rock (LCS 9)
It was arguably one of the most-significant public events of 2017 in Western New York and for the United States Navy. Abbey Mecca was honored be among the team of dedicated people that produced this historic event. On 16 December 2017, the USS Little Rock – LCS 9 was commissioned at Canalside in Buffalo, New York. The event marked the first time in the US Navy’s history that a new warship was commissioned alongside her namesake – The USS Little Rock (CG4) at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park. More than 9,000 hardy souls braved the cold and snow to be a witness to history.
The events of Commissioning Week and the Commissioning Ceremony were the culmination of 24 months of planning, organizing, and coordination. Abbey Mecca provided strategic planning, special event management, branding, public relations, social media management, website development, digital marketing, email marketing, direct mail, media planning and commercial production of support collateral.
