For years, Canisius has fielded competitive teams in men’s ice hockey and both men’s and women’s basketball. All three were division one sports playing in the MACC. The Department of Athletics hired Abbey Mecca to develop an attention getting branding campaign that would engage students, alumni and the Buffalo Niagara market and encourage the purchase of game tickets.

The client asked that we find a way to include Canisius’ mascot Petey in the spots. We created the “Are You Ready” campaign and felt humor would be an appropriate strategy to employ. We produced a series of commercials and video for web and TV along with print and digital collateral to promote the Canisius College Athletics brand as well as ticket sales.
