Celebrating 70 Years
Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center
A well-known not for profit organization was preparing to celebrate 70 years of service to children, adults, and families in Western New York. Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center [BHSC] passionately beleives that communication is a basic human right and employs a highly skilled and compassionate staff to serve people with whatever communication or learning needs they have. BHSC approached Abbey Mecca to help create s campaign celebrating the 70 anniversary and use the milestone to update the BHSC logo and visual identity.
The old BHSC icon of hearing and speech was replaced with a heart – inspired by and symbolizing the compassionate care that is at the center of BHSC. Within the heart is a figure – arms uplifted – representing the nurturing staff that supports and elevates our patients, students, and families. Together, the heart and figure create a tree symbolizing the promise of growth and development for the people served – especially the youngest patients and students.
The colors of the heart represent diversity of not only the team at BHSC but also the diversity of the people served. The colors also represent the services of hearing, speech, education, literacy, autism and therapy.
The redesigned logo pays tribute to the legacy, preserving the awareness and recognition of BHSC with a modern typeface in the foundational letters of the name. Completing the brand design, is a new tagline that tells the world that at BHSC, we Nurture, we Educate, and we help people Communicate.
The new visual identity was showcased in an advertising campaign coinciding with the launch of a new website and development of a series of web videos.
