The Super Bowl isn’t just about football—it’s about the commercials. Every year, brands bring their A-game, delivering emotional, hilarious, and sometimes downright bizarre ads to captivate millions of viewers. This year, as part of our Super Bowl ad review series, I’m sharing my take on the best, worst, and the ad I believe will take the top spot on the USA Today Ad Meter.

The Best: Budweiser’s “First Delivery”

Every year, Budweiser finds a way to tug at my heartstrings, and 2025 is no exception. Their latest commercial, First Delivery, brings back the iconic Clydesdale horses, but this time, it’s a young foal making its debut. As an animal lover and a dog owner, I’m a sucker for these emotional Budweiser ads.

The story follows a young foal watching its elder Clydesdales on a keg delivery. When one falls off the cart, the foal steps in, traveling through different landscapes to ensure the beer makes it to its destination. It’s a tale of resilience, tradition, and legacy—everything Budweiser represents.

And let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be a classic Budweiser Super Bowl ad without a cute dog making an appearance. I’m crying, you’re crying…we’re all crying!

The Worst: Uber Eats

Now, I love a good Super Bowl commercial, but Uber Eats has officially overdone it. In recent years, they’ve thrown everything at the wall—celebrities, over-the-top humor, and random plot lines—all in hopes of capturing the viral moment. But at some point, too much of a good thing is just… too much.

This year’s ad felt like a retread of their past campaigns, packed with forced humor and a predictable celebrity cameo. Sure, it might get people talking, but it lacks the originality that makes a truly great Super Bowl ad. Uber Eats, maybe it’s time to scale back and rethink your game plan.

Predicted Winner: Hellmann’s “When Sally Met Hellmann’s” or Michelob Ultra’s “The Ultra Hustle”

If I had to bet on which ad will win the USA Today Ad Meter, I’m calling it a toss-up between Hellmann’s and Michelob Ultra.

  • Hellmann’s “When Sally Met Hellmann’s” taps into nostalgia, playing off When Harry Met Sally in a clever and unexpected way. The teaser already hints at a familiar rom-com setting, and with a star-studded cast, it’s bound to resonate with a broad audience.
  • Michelob Ultra’s “The Ultra Hustle” has a killer lineup: Catherine O’Hara, Willem Dafoe, and sports legends like Randy Moss and Sabrina Ionescu. It blends comedy, sports, and entertainment—all the ingredients for a Super Bowl ad that sticks with people.

Both ads feature powerhouse celebrities and a fun mix of nostalgia, humor, and clever branding. Either one could take the top spot this year.
