Incorporated in 1969 by C. Robert Abbey and Nicholas D. Mecca, Abbey, Mecca & Co., Inc., became operational that year as a full service advertising, marketing and public relations agency. Robert Abbey, a journalism graduate from Ohio Wesleyan and former associate editor for the Rochester Times-Union, had previously operated a public relations firm named Abbey & Company that served as public relations counsel for a number of non-profit health agencies and trade organizations in Western New York.

While maintaining the relationships with existing clients of Abbey, Mecca & Co., Inc., the new agency, began to add consumer oriented advertisers to its list. Clients such as Kentucky Fried Chicken of Western and Central New York looked to Abbey, Mecca to provide expertise in media management and advertising. It was in 1975 that Nicholas Mecca took the reins of the agency and was named president and CEO.

In 1979, Westwood Pharmaceuticals tapped Abbey Mecca to supply a complete range of creative, graphic and production services, including sales and promotional literature, advertising, package design, visual aids, point of purchase floor and counter displays, product logo designs, and ethical product labeling.

In 1993, Daniel Mecca joined Abbey Mecca as an account executive and worked in various capacities until 2001 when he was named as the agency’s third president.

Our Team

Daniel Mecca


Dan is the president and managing creative director of Abbey, Mecca & Company. He is responsible for day-to-day management of the agency and provides the agency’s clients with branding, positioning and creative strategies. He has more than 20 years of branding, advertising and marketing communications experience.

Dan also volunteers with industry and non-profit organizations. He served on the board of trustees for the Foundation of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, the board of directors for Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center and the board of trustees of Canisius High School. He is a current member of the Niagara Business Associates; the Buffalo Niagara Partnership; and the Ad Club of Buffalo.

He earned a bachelor of arts in English and Communications from Canisius College and an MBA from the Wehle School of Business at Canisius.


Melissa Keith


A solid foundation in advertising principles provides Melissa with the knowledge to design media plans that reach the target audience effectively and efficiently utilizing both traditional and new media channels. With more than seven years in media planning and buying, her insight and knowledge provide clients with a valuable resource in developing plans with budgets of various sizes, across multiple media channels and on a local, regional and national level. Melissa supervises planning and buying in excess of $3 million annually for the agency’s clients.


Elizabeth Ervolina


With a diverse background including work in advertising, sales and marketing, Elizabeth brings strong expertise in developing and implementing digital marketing plans for brands. She focuses on creating branded content marketing strategies and plans and then managing the execution of plans across multiple channels for the agency clients. Her knowledge of both traditional and digital media provides valuable insight when leveraging client budgets across paid and organic content marketing.

Elizabeth earned a masters of arts degree in integrated marketing communications from St. Bonaventure University and holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and mass communications also from St. Bonaventure.


Paul Maurer


Paul is the agency’s lead designer working on communications for print, to package design to digital and web projects.  With more than four years of experience in visual communications, Paul has the ability to develop visual campaigns across multiple channels. As a designer and art director, Paul’s work has been recognized for creative excellence.

Paul earned a bachelor of Digital Media Arts degree from Canisius College.
